Chris Hoyt is one of the nation’s top experts in charitable planning with retirement assets. In 2018, his session at the CGP Conference got 5 stars from every reviewer (read more about it below). On January 29, you can attend a webinar presentation of the same session for free, thanks to Charitable Gift Planners of Indiana. We’re hosting two group sites for CGP’s national broadcast of this presentation. You’d usually pay $25 to attend this webinar, but we think the content is so important that we want to bring our members together to learn from Chris and start a local discussion of his ideas. This offer is available to CGP Indiana members only, and space is limited.
Register and a seat will be reserved for you, so please save this time and be sure to attend. You’re welcome to bring your lunch to eat during the webinar. Our host, Blue and Company, will provide drinks.
When: Tuesday, January 29, 2019, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. (please plan to be in your seat no later than 12:45)
Location: Blue & Co. LLC—two locations, with free parking at each (please specify your preference on the registration form)
- Downtown: 500 N. Meridian St., Suite 200
- Carmel: 12800 N. Meridian St., Suite 400
Make Your Charitable Estate Plan Great Again
This session focuses on strategies, traps and solutions for charitable uses of retirement assets. We will consider the impact of the 2018 tax changes on charitable giving, with tax strategies for the 20 million households that no longer get income tax savings from their charitable gifts because they will not be itemizing their tax deductions. Then we will consider the increased importance of “Charitable IRA Rollover” and review strategies for charitable bequests of retirement assets, including an introduction to “income-based charitable bequests,” a way for an estate or trust to get income tax savings from charitable bequests. Attendees at this webinar will also receive a copy of Chris’s conference paper.
Christopher Hoyt is a Professor of Law at the University of Missouri (Kansas City) School of Law, where he teaches courses in the area of federal income taxation, charitable organizations and retirement plans. Chris is currently the Vice Chair of the Charitable Group (Section of Trusts and Estates – American Bar Association) and he serves on the editorial board of Trusts and Estates magazine. He is an ACTEC fellow and has been designated by his peers as a “Best Lawyer.” He was elected to the Estate Planning Hall of Fame by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils.
